Step 1
Secure the pasta maker to the counter. The electric models are heavier and usually have rubber feet to keep them from sliding, whereas the crank type is equipped with a clamp to secure it to the counter.
-
Step 2
Insert the mixing bowl if it's removable. Some of the hand crank models may not have removable bowls.
-
Step 3
Affix the mixing blade inside the bowl, fitting it into the socket hole at the back of the pasta maker. Hold onto the mixing blade as you slide the barrel in place. The barrel fits on the front of the bowl on most electric pasta makers to accommodate the end of the mixing blade and the pasta die.
-
Step 4
Choose a pasta die and snap it onto the barrel or onto the adapter on the front of the hand crank model.
-
Step 5
Place the front plate over the pasta die. Hold the die in position with one hand while you adjust the plate. When positioned correctly, you'll have the die centered in the hole of the front plate.
-
Step 6
Screw the knobs onto the front plate to hold everything securely in place. The hand crank model may only have a collar that screws over the die to hold it in place.
-
Step 7
Position the bowl cover on top of the pasta maker. Most electric models shut off automatically if the bowl cover isn't in place.
