You can cook a roast with little fuss when you use a crockpot. Add a variety of spices for flavor and turn a simple meal into a great tasting dinner. Use these hints to season a roast in a crockpot. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Rub the roast with a spiced tenderizer or marinade so that the flavor soaks into the roast while it cooks. Add enough rub to cover the whole roast.

    • 2

Use a bottled barbeque sauce for a taste that resembles barbequed meat. Pour barbeque sauce on all sides and place the meat into the crockpot with just enough water so that the roast will steam.

    • 3

Add your roast to the crockpot leaving the fat side up so it can marinade the roast as it cooks. Pour in enough cold water to almost cover the roast.

    • 4

Include a package of onion soup mix to season the roast. Pour it over the meat letting part of it cover the meat and the rest soak into the cold water. Use onion soup mix with garlic if you like a more garlicky taste.

    • 5

Create your own marinade by combining Worchestershire sauce with garlic. Spread it over the top of the roast. Add hot sauce or tobasco sauce for a spicier taste. Pour a bit of water into the crockpot but do not cover the whole roast.

    • 6

Combine cream of mushroom, chicken or broccoli soup with onion soup mix to create a seasoned gravy. Add enough water to almost cover the roast. Let it cook in the gravy mixture.

    • 7

Season your roast with curry powder. Mix curry powder with a little flour and sprinkle the curry powder mixture over the roast. Add garlic and beef stock to the crockpot. Cook for several hours.
