Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Bread dough
  • Flour
  • Knife
  • Breadboard
  • Non-stick cooking spray
  • Cookie sheet
  1. Step 1

Make the bread dough according to any recipe that makes two loaves of bread. Let it rise in a greased bowl until it has doubled its size. Punch the dough down to remove all the air bubbles. Let it rest for a few minutes.

  2. Step 2

Lightly flour a breadboard. Remove the bread from its bowl and set it on the floured breadboard. Gently knead the bread for a few seconds to work the crusty top into the middle of the dough.

  3. Step 3

Roll the dough into a long loaf. Cut the bread in half with a sharp knife. Cut each of the sections into three pieces. Set each piece aside so that they are not touching each other.

  4. Step 4

Pick up one of the six dough balls. Roll it into a rope shape. Continue this process until all six pieces are in more or less the same length pieces.

  5. Step 5

Lay three pieces of dough side by side. Pinch one end together. Braid the three pieces together by bringing the outside edge over the middle piece. Alternate this process on each side until there is about an inch of dough left. Pinch all three edges together.

  6. Step 6

Spray the cookie sheet with non-stick cooking spray. Gently lift the braided dough onto the cookie sheet. Shape it into a circle. Work with the dough ends to make the circle look like it is all one piece.

  7. Step 7

Repeat Steps 5 and 6 to make the second braid. Let the dough rise again according to the recipe's directions. Bake the dough.
