Bronze skin gives off a healthy, beautiful glow. Use a self-tanner to get a bronze glow without subjecting your skin to the harmful effects of sun rays and tanning beds. Moisturize your skin before applying self-tanning lotions to receive the best results and to avoid splotchy and streaked skin.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:

  • Self-tanning lotion
  • Skin moisturizer
  • Exfoliant
  • Cleanser
  • Towel

Step1
Take a shower the morning before you plan to apply the self-tanning lotion. Cleanse your skin as usual. Use an exfoliant to remove flaky, dry skin. Pay special attention to scrubbing your elbows, knees, heels and ankles.
Step2
Dry your skin thoroughly with a towel. Apply moisturizer to your entire body. Rub an extra amount of lotion into your elbows, knees, ankles and heels.
Step3
Remoisturize your skin just before going to bed. Apply lotion to your knees, elbows, ankles, heels and any other areas that have particularly dry skin. Let the lotion set on your skin for 10 minutes before moving on.
Step4
Smooth the self-tanning lotion over your entire body. Use smaller amounts on the dryer areas of your skin and around your hair line. Wash your hands well after rubbing in the tanner. Let the tanner dry for a few minutes before getting dressed.
Step5
Shower in the morning to wash away the self-tanning lotion. Cleanse and dry as usual.
Step6
Reapply a good moisturizing lotion before getting dressed. Again, pay special attention to the areas of your body that are prone to dry skin. Repeat this process until you have achieved the bronze color of your liking.
