It isn't always east to match the colors of a rental tuxedo with that of the wedding scheme colors the bride chooses. Tuxedo shops carry a wide variety of colors, but the number of colors from which to choose is limited compared with the colors the bride is able to choose for the wedding. Here are some tips for matching tuxedo colors with the wedding color scheme.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Fabric swatch
  1. Step 1

Ask the bride-to-be or the wedding planner for a small piece of material in the wedding color scheme. Most likely, this swatch is the same color as the bridesmaids' dresses. Bring this swatch of material to the tuxedo rental shop.

  2. Step 2

Choose black or white. If you don't have a swatch or the colors of the wedding, or you can't find a perfect match at the tuxedo rental shop, go the traditional route with a black or white vest and tie.

  3. Step 3

Decide on ivory. If the wedding colors are light pastels--such as yellows, pinks or light blues--ivory vests and ties are a great choice because the color is neutral.

  4. Step 4

Go with silver. Silver matches very well with many colors and looks more contemporary than traditional black or white.

Tips & Warnings
  • Always talk to the bride about matching colors of tuxedos with the colors of the wedding. Better yet, bring the bride with you to the tuxedo shop to help coordinate the colors.
  • Never expect the tuxedo colors to match perfectly with the bridesmaids' dresses. The only way this will happen is if the tuxedo shop also made the bridesmaids' dresses and they use the same materials to make matching vests or ties. Settle for close matches in color. It's highly unlikely that anyone will notice the difference.
