Short hair may seem easier to style than long hair, but when it comes to straightening the hair, short hair can actually be harder to straighten. Fortunately, new hair products and flatirons cater to people with short hair. And if your hair is extremely wavy, you can always get it chemically straightened at a salon.

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Wash your hair with a straightening shampoo and use a deep conditioner so your hair looks sleek once it's straightened.

  2. Step 2

Put a small amount of smoothing cream in your palms and rub it through your hair from roots to tips. Use a comb to pull any missed cream through the back of your hair.

  3. Step 3

Use a round brush, or a double-sided vented brush, and blow-dry your hair. If your hair isn't extremely short, you want to pull the hair out and down from your head and use the blow dryer from above, pointed down.

  4. Step 4

Put some finishing cream into your hair and grab your flatiron. Separate your hair into 1- to 2-inch sections and iron your hair from roots to tips. Work the flatiron all the way around your head, and add more finishing cream once your hair is straight.

  5. Step 5

Straighten really short, wavy hair by visiting a salon and getting your hair chemically straightened. Salons can put a relaxer in your hair that breaks down the waves. This helps the style last longer and is easier for people with really wavy or curly hair.
