An updo is an elegant style for a prom or a wedding; even a flower girl can feel like a princess with an easy updo. There are a variety of ways to create these elegant looks. Be sure that you find a style that matches the hair type and personality of your client.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Hair bands
  • Comb
  • Hair spray
  • Bobby pins
  • Curling iron
  1. Step 1

Begin by curling the back of the hair. The hair should be in several ponytails along the back of the head.

  2. Step 2

Section the front of the hair. You may decide to part in the middle or to have a side part.

  3. Step 3

Sweep the hair back toward the ponytails. You should divide it into two sections on each section. Twist the top section back and use bobby pins to secure it into place. The bobby pins should be close to the hair bands.

  4. Step 4

Take the bottom section and twist it back over the top section to add a layered look. Pin it into place. Be sure that you use two bobby pins and that one comes from the bottom of the hair section and one comes from the top. This will secure the hair firmly to prevent the style from falling out.

  5. Step 5

Divide the hair into sections, spray the hair and curl each section with a curling iron. Release the hair by pulling the curling iron down to create a spiral curl.

  6. Step 6

Repeat steps 3 to 5 with the other side of the front section of hair.

on 8/6/2009 I really would like to see photos in steps 3 and 4. Hard for me to visualize. I'll give this a practice try today for a big event tomorrow. Thanks!
