1
Brush the hair thoroughly, and comb it to make sure all snarls are removed. Comb the hair back smoothly.
-
2
Divide the hair into two ponytails, and hold them in place with ponytail holders. The ponytails should look much like old-fashioned pigtails, but the part doesn't need to be straight or exact. The ponytails can be high or low on the head, according to your preferences. If you have shorter hair, the ponytails will need to be closer together.

3
Use styling gel or mousse to smooth the hair back, and to tame wisps and unruly hairs.
-
4
Hold one ponytail in each hand, and tie the ponytails together.
-
5
Insert bobby pins through the knot and into the base of the ponytails. Use additional bobby pins if your hair is very long or heavy.
-
6
Allow the ends of the ponytails to hang loose.
-
7
Add a bit more styling gel or mousse to help keep the ponytail neatly in place.

Tips & Warnings
Be sure to use coated ponytail holders. Don't use regular rubber bands, which can be difficult to remove and can damage the hair.
