Pulling your hair back into a plain ponytail can get boring. You can add some style by using a crisscross weave in your hair. This can be used to help accentuate updos as well. With a little practice, this weave is an easy and quick hairstyle to complete.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Separate a front section of hair right at the hairline with your comb. This section should be rectangular and fairly narrow. Hold it in place with a bobby pin.

  2. Step 2

Divide a second section of hair on one side of your original section. This section should be triangular and slightly overlap the first section behind it. Spray the first section and then add the hair gel. Pull the second section over to the other side of the hair, twisting slightly. Use bobby pins to hold the piece in place.

  3. Step 3

Comb a third section on the other side of your original section. It should be triangular in shape and about the same size as the second. Spray the section of hair and add hair gel to it. Pull the third piece of hair to the other side of the head, crossing over the second piece of hair. Pin it in place.

  4. Step 4

Part the original section into two pieces. Spray the first piece and add hair gel. Twist and cross over the opposite side. Twist and use bobby pins to hold in place. Take the second piece and apply the product, then pull to the opposite side and pin into place.

  5. Step 5

Work on one side of the head, pulling pieces back and crossing over and pinning in place. You can vary the size of the pieces you are pulling back slightly. Be sure that you cross the pieces over each other.

  6. Step 6

Repeat on the other side of the head.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use a lot of product in your hair. It will help to emphasize the crisscross pattern, as well as hold it in place.
  • This hairstyle can be used to pull the hair back, or you can add a ponytail or an updo to this initial style step.
  • Add small flowers or jewels into the crisscross pattern to emphasize it.
