Sectioning hair when you style it will make it easier to manage. You can create wonderful curls if you take the time to roll the hair properly. This begins with wetting and sectioning the hair. You can use clips to hold the hair in place if you need to.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Spray water bottle
  • Comb
  • Double clips
  1. Step 1

Spray the hair thoroughly with water. This makes the hair easier to work with. It also helps the curls to set as they dry.

  2. Step 2

Comb the hair as you spray it with water. You should focus on getting the major tangles out of the hair so you can section it easily.

  3. Step 3

Begin to section the hair across the top of the crown from just behind the ear. Comb the hair in front of the ear forward, and the hair behind the ear back.

  4. Step 4

Clip the front hair forward if you need to. The front section should be divided into two sections.

  5. Step 5

Smooth the hair in back with the comb before you begin section the rest of the hair.

Tips & Warnings
  • Check with the client to verify the size and type of curls that she wants. Prepare the rollers before you begin sectioning so that you can move to the next steps as needed.
  • Using plenty of water makes the sectioning process easier. If you need to use more water, do so. Be sure that you spray underneath the hair as well.
  • Be gentle as you comb and remove tangles. This can be done as you focus on one section at a time.
