You may not see it, but your own skin is clogging your pores. An exfoliator removes the dead skin, makeup and other products that are trapped in your pores. If you want to look years younger, get rid of that dry or dead skin buildup on your face and body.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Exfoliator
  • Water
  • Clean cloth

Step1
Get your face wet before exfoliating. A great time to do this is after washing off your makeup at the end of the day.
Step2
Rub the exfoliator onto your face, covering all areas with the gritty substance. Most good exfoliators contain granules that scrub the skin and get into the loaded pore areas.
Step3
Massage it in, using a circular motion for a few minutes. Gently work the exfoliator into the pores of your face.
Step4
Wipe the exfoliator off your face or body using a clean cloth, or rinse with warm water and then pat dry.
Step5
Exfoliate your skin at least 4 days a week, right before bed.

Tips & Warnings

  • If your skin is sensitive, exfoliators with rougher textures may irritate it. Look for a smooth exfoliator, and use an exfoliator glove or pumice stone to exfoliate your entire body.
  • Unless your exfoliator specifically says it is okay for the body and face, make sure you use two different products. Some body exfoliators can be too harsh for your face.
