Onion skinning is the creation of ghost images made from the frame or designated group of frames placed before the frame you're working on. This function allows you to compare the designated number of frames to ensure that each frame is an appropriate progression in your animation. Learn to turn on and use the onion skinning technique in iStopMotion.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Click on the "View" tab at the bottom right of the screen. The tab has a picture of a human head and shoulders silhouetted in white depicted on it.

  2. Step 2

Look at the View menu that appears. Locate the onion skinning option toward the top of the list.

  3. Step 3

Turn on the onion skinning effect. Select the check box next to the slide bar labeled "Skinning."

  4. Step 4

Move the slide bar next to the "Skinning" label to select how many frames to view in this function. The minimum, with the slide bar all the way to the left, is two frames. The maximum is six frames when the slider is pushed all the way to the right.
