How to Configure Camera in iStopMotion

Install and configure an external camera rather than use a default internal camera for shooting iStopMotion animated movies so you can move the camera around and manipulate camera angles. IStopMotion walks you through camera configuration options and allows you to preview your selections before applying them to your iStopMotion movie project.

Instructions

    • 1

Plug your external digital camera into your computer and go through any instructions that appear on the screen in order to enable your computer to recognize and install the camera.

    • 2

Click on the options entry bar labeled "Device" located beneath the "Source" heading at the top right of the blank iStopMotion work screen. Change the iStopMotion movie software default camera setting from your built-in side camera to the external camera you just plugged into your computer.

    • 3

Select "Settings" beneath the device box where it lists your camera. Adjust the pixel size setting by entering a different pixel aspect ratio. Adjust this only if you don't like, or can't use, the default for your particular movie project.

    • 4

Adjust the camera's saturation, brightness and contrast using the slide bars.

    • 5

Click on "QuickTime Settings" to modify the QuickTime functionality settings you need customized for your iStopMotion movie project.

    • 6

Preview your camera settings at the right side of the screen by selecting "Preview." Fine tune any settings that aren't right for your iStopMotion movie project.

    • 7

Click "OK" to save your changes and finalize your iStopMotion movie camera set-up.
