Step 1
Open Poser and add a character into the Pose Window, then change to the face camera. Basic dynamic hairstyles are located in the Library. Select "Hair" and "SydneyG2" and then choose a hairstyle.
-
Step 2
Change to the Hair Room. Artists use pre-designed dynamic hair models to focus on hair styling. Review the drop down menus in the Preview window. The first menu should have the model's name, and if it does not, click on the model's face to update the drop down. Select the first hair group from the second drop down menu.
-
Step 3
Examine the "Growth Controls." Artists control how the hair fits on the head with these dials. "Length Variance" prevents the hair from being an equal length, which is not natural looking since few people have that type hairstyle. Adjust this control for greater realism.
-
Step 4
Click "Style Hairs." The Hair Style Tool will appear and has several options for bending, twisting and shaping a hair group. There are eight parameter dials below the "Style Hairs" button. The "Show populated" check box is above the Hair Density dial. Moving this dial increases/decreases the number of hairs.
-
Step 5
Select the "Show Populated" check box to display how the hair looks on the character's head. The Tip and Root Width dials alter the size of hair strands. Kink strength, scale and delay dials increases/decreases a hair group's curliness. The Clumpiness dial controls how closely the hair bunches together. The final dial, Verts per Hair, is the most processor intensive dial. It controls how smooth and flowing a hair group becomes.

Step 6
Use the Parameter Dials to style the character's hair. Be patient as you learn to work with Poser and be sure to save your work.
