If you want your health club to succeed, you will have to hire and keep outstanding employees. They need to mirror the passion you have for fitness and health and demonstrate that passion to customers. The trick is not merely in finding excellent staff but in keeping them on staff. How you treat your health club employees is critical.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

Recruit the best employees for your health club. While you will get some workers in traditional ways, such as through classified advertising, you may find your best employees come through word of mouth. Hire people who are enthusiastic and energetic. They should be the picture of health and fitness.

  2. Step 2

Train your employees well. Don't expect them to read your mind. Let them know what you expect. Try to make training interesting, rather than a boring session on rules and regulations.

  3. Step 3

Empower your health club employees to make decisions. If you give them responsibility, they will act responsibly. Customers should be able to get answers right away. You never want them to hear, "I don't know. I just work here."

  4. Step 4

Give credit to good employees, and help them shine. If the local television station is doing a piece on yoga, encourage your yoga instructor to do the interview rather than you.

  5. Step 5

Drill customer service into your employees' heads, and then reward them when it pays off. If you have a great customer retention rate, give your employees a party and a bonus. Make them feel part of a team.
