Step 1
Decide how much salary you need to take out of the business for yourself. Be realistic when setting the number.
-
Step 2
Create services that will give you the income you need. It may be cost-effective to go beyond the basic health club services. Some clubs rent out a portion of space to physical therapists.
-
Step 3
Study the demographics of the surrounding area. If your club is in a wealthy part of town, you can charge higher fees. If you're the only health club for miles, you can probably raise your rates, too.
-
Step 4
Include factors such as employee health insurance and paid vacations when determining your fees. Don't forget property taxes and utilities. Equipment will need to be replaced. All of these will impact your bottom line.
-
Step 5
Reward current members for bringing in new business. This can save on advertisement, and increase your income. Give them an extra month of membership or a free membership for another family member for every new customer they recruit.
-
Step 6
Resolve to make your health club the best one available. People will pay for quality service. If you have great customer service, your members will best your best advertisement.
