You love the deep, tribal sound of a didgeridoo so much that you're thinking about learning how to play one. But the first time you pick one up, you may find it's hard to breathe and play a didgeridoo. Learning how to breathe when playing the didgeridoo is really important to effectively play the instrument.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Try breathing in through your nose and out through your mouth. Put your hand on your stomach and note if your stomach moves. Breathe like this for a minute and count how many breaths you're doing.

  2. Step 2

Start breathing in through the nose breathing so deeply that your stomach rises. Fill your lungs completely with air.

  3. Step 3

Breathe out, getting all the air out of your lungs.

  4. Step 4

Practice breathing like this for one minute and see how many breaths you take for a minute. You'll find that to make your stomach rise, to completely fill up your lungs, you don't need to take as many breaths as you did before. To play a didgeridoo, you need to be able to extend your breaths to last 5 to 10 seconds.

  5. Step 5

Know that once you learn how to breathe when playing the didgeridoo, you should be able to play it for a full minute without having to stop to breathe.

  6. Step 6

Practice your breathing repeatedly so you're comfortable breathing this way before you start playing the didgeridoo.
