So you can do the basic cumbia dance steps and you can even do some variations on the basic cumbia steps, but you want to do more. Start adding variations to the side to side cumbia dance steps. By the end of it, you'll find that your cumbia dance step repertoire is expanding still further.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Begin to add variations to the side to side cumbia dance steps by starting with the basic side to side dance steps.

  2. Step 2

    Step to the side with your right foot, and slide your left foot over to meet it. Step to the right again, but instead of sliding your left foot all the way to meet your right foot, slide it just a little, pause, and step back to the left.

  3. Step 3

    Slide your right foot to meet your left foot, step again to the left with your left foot, then slide your right foot almost over to your right foot before stepping again to the right.

  4. Step 4

    Do a variation of the side to side cumbia dance step by stepping four times to the right with your right foot, and stepping four times to the left with your left foot.

  5. Step 5

    Go more quickly when you go to the side in either direction in order to stay in time with the music, and you will not have to pause before reversing direction.

  6. Step 6

    Break down the side to side variation of the cumbia dance step by stepping to the right, sliding with your left foot, stepping to the right, sliding with your left foot, stepping to the right, sliding with your left foot, stepping to the right, and sliding with the left foot. Step to the left, and slide with your right foot, and repeat three more times.

  7. Step 7

    Move your arms in a circular fashion, keeping them below your shoulders and above your waist.
