Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Begin doing variations of basic cumbia dance steps by starting from the basic cumbia dance step.

  2. Step 2

Step back with your right foot, placing it a little behind and to the side of the left foot, step in place with your left foot, then step forward with your right foot. Repeat these steps but with your left foot.

  3. Step 3

Become comfortable with the basic steps of the cumbia before adding any variations. Remember to move your arms in a circular motion, while not letting them rise above your shoulders or below your waist.

  4. Step 4

Add a kick to your basic cumbia dance steps for some variation. Keep the kick low, and aim your toe toward the ground as if you are trying to dislodge something from the toe of your shoe.

  5. Step 5

Kick quickly before stepping back with your right foot as you do the basic cumbia steps, and do the same with your left foot just before you step back with it. Remember to keep the kick quick as you'll want to stay in time with the music.
