Music is an international language that all people understand. That's why using music in a clown routine is important, because it can attract an audience to your routine that might otherwise have passed you by. From instruments to singing to playing a CD, there are a variety of ways you can use music in your clown routine.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Instruments
  • Music CD
  • Radio
  1. Step 1

Decide what sort of music you want for your routine. You can play a few instruments, sing, perform to a CD or simply have background music.

  2. Step 2

Use instruments in a silly way. Play funny songs on a kazoo or harmonica, do a silly dance while you play maracas, never get the tune right on a trombone or sing a funny song while you strum a banjo.

  3. Step 3

Perform to a CD of dramatic sounds. Use the music to cue when you fall, run, jump, hide, cry, laugh and any other act you perform. For a birthday party you can instruct the kids to scream, laugh or jump up and down every time the song plays a certain part.

  4. Step 4

Play background music while you make balloon animals or paint faces. Use it to signify your entrance or exit so that people know to expect you or that the show is over.

  5. Step 5

Let music help you draw a crowd's attention in a parade or at a circus. Learn to play the tunes for certain sports teams, television shows and national anthems to really get the crowd going when they hear something they like.
