How to Make Tofu Baby Food

Many people are unsure about using tofu, but it's an ideal ingredient for baby food, easy to incorporate into baby's diet, and loaded with protein, iron and calcium. Introduce this beneficial food to your baby early, and it will soon become a favorite.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Silken tofu
  • Pureed fruits or vegetables
  1. Step 1

    Add a very small amount of silken tofu to the baby's food at first, to give him a chance to get used to the flavor and texture. Then, gradually increase the amount of tofu.

  2. Step 2

    Open the package of silken tofu and drain any excess moisture.

  3. Step 3

    Place a small amount of the tofu in a blender or food processor.

  4. Step 4

    Add some pureed fruit or vegetables.

  5. Step 5

    Blend the tofu baby food until the tofu is completely incorporated into the fruits or vegetables.

Tips & Warnings
  • For delicious and healthy scrambled eggs, just blend a small amount of silken tofu into the eggs. Add a bit of grated cheese for flavor.
  • Tofu can easily be blended into baby's soup, and served warm.
  • Tofu makes great finger food for older babies. If your baby enjoys tofu, try cutting some medium or firm tofu into bite-size pieces.
  • Try mashing a bit of silken tofu with avocado, hummus or cottage cheese, or dust the tofu with a bit of finely ground graham crackers.
  • If your baby has an allergy to soy, don't give her food containing tofu.
