Knowing the proper and safe way to work with wire endings is important when working with the internals of kids' electronic toys. This includes knowing how to strip and cut wires for circuit bending when working with speakers in an electronic toy.

Things You'll Need:

  • Spool of wire
  • Wire cutters
  • Wire strippers
  1. Step 1

Gather the supplies you need, so you can complete your circuit bending project without having to get up, which could disturb the open electronics and small pieces. These supplies should include the spool of wire you are using, a pair of wire cutters and a pair of wire strippers.

  2. Step 2

Decide on the length of wires you need as well as the number of wires. This is determined by the project and how far it is from the speaker to the terminals you want to connect the speaker to. Don't make the wires too long, or they could get in the way or make it difficult to reassemble the toy.

  3. Step 3

Use the wire cutters to cut the first length of wire, then use the cut wire as a pattern to measure out the second length of wire. Cut the second length of wire at this end point of the cut wire. The end of the wire cutters is the sharp edge.

  4. Step 4

Strip the end of both wires with a pair of wire strippers. Strip off about 1/4 inch of the sheath. This will expose the wire in all the areas you need in order to install them into the toy, or project, when connecting the speaker and terminals.
