Once you've inspected the pods on your Hayward Aquabug for wear, cracks and warping and have replaced any parts necessary, it's time to reinstall them onto the bottom section of the cleaner. Whether you're installing repaired pods or a completely new set of replacement pods, the installation is the same. Here's how to do it.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Observe that each pod is marked on the inside (the side closest to the frame) with either an "L" for left or an "R" for right. This means if the bottom assembly is sitting on the work bench with the front facing away from you, it's your right and your left, respectively

  2. Step 2

Push the right pod onto the stainless steel shaft protruding through the right side of the bottom assembly's frame. Insert the hex-headed screw into the hole on the outside of the pod and screw the pod to the shaft with the electric drill and the ΒΌ-inch drive bit holder. Be sure the drill's torque is on a low setting so you don't over tighten the screw and crack the pod or break the shaft.

  3. Step 3

Install the left pod following the same procedure and precautions in Step 2. Check the pod installation by picking up the bottom assembly and making sure the pods rock back and forth freely.

  4. Step 4

Set each wing back on the pod's hooks and press it down onto the hooks. Reinstall the pod plug into the plug hole above the wing to lock it in place. Make sure the wing swings up and down freely. After the wings are on and locked in place, the bottom assembly is ready to reinstall.
