Things You'll Need:
- Electric drill with a 1/4-inch drive bit holder and Phillip's head bit
-
Step 1
Turn the Aquabug upside down on the work bench, and remove the 5 stainless steel screws holding the bottom assembly to the rest of the cleaner. Put all the screws in a container to keep them together as you remove them.
-
Step 2
Pull the bottom assembly away from the cleaner body to expose the base plate, and set the bottom assembly aside.
-
Step 3
Observe that there are 6 stainless steel screws holding the base plate in place, three in a row on each side. Remove all 6 screws and put them into the container.
-
Step 4
Lift off the base plate assembly. The base plate, rollers and bumper assembly come out as one unit. Set the rest of the Aquabug aside, and be careful to keep it upside down so the other components don't fall out.
-
Step 5
Inspect the base plate for cracks or warping. Then, hold the assembly in the center with one hand and spin the bumper to be sure it spins freely. Check the rollers for cracks or wear. If the base plate is cracked or warped, or if the bumper assembly binds or sounds rough, replace them.
