The last three sections to complete the assembly of a Hayward Aquabug are the lower middle body assembly, the base plate assembly and the bottom assembly. Reassembling these sections will get the Aquabug ready to resume its trouble free role of keeping your vinyl pool bottom clean and free of dirt and debris. Here's how to do it.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Electric drill with a ¼-inch drive bit holder and a Phillip's head bit
  1. Step 1

Set the screen into the channel in the rear of the lower middle body assembly.

  2. Step 2

Hold the partially assembled cleaner over the lower middle body assembly and slip one hand under the bottom of the assembly. Push the lower middle body assembly up and fit it into the upper middle body assembly. Make sure the upper edge of the screen at the rear of the lower middle body fits into the channel in the back of the Aquabug's shroud.

  3. Step 3

Keep the parts together and turn the cleaner upside down on the workbench. Place the base plate assembly over the lower middle body assembly. Line up the 6 screw holes in the base plate with the screw holes running through the lower middle body assembly.

  4. Step 4

Insert the 6 long screws into the 6 holes and tighten them with the electric drill set on the lowest torque setting.

  5. Step 5

Set the bottom assembly on the workbench with the A-frames and rollers up. Lower the partially assembled Aquabug down onto the bottom assembly so the A-frames straddle the turbine's axles. Wiggle the bottom assembly a bit to work the A-frames into place.

  6. Step 6

Hold the bottom assembly in place with one hand and, with the other hand on top of the shroud, turn the entire assembly upside down on the workbench. Insert the throat into the suction hole and set the suction plate over it.

  7. Step 7

Install the last 5 screws into the bottom assembly. Three go through the holes in the suction plate, and the other two go into the holes just under the front flap. The Aquabug is now reassembled and should be ready to do its job in your pool.
