Putting together tropical flower arrangements can be fun, satisfying and make you the talk of all your friends. Using horsetail in your arrangement adds a beautiful element, similar to bamboo. This adds a dramatic flair that will take your arrangement to the next level.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Gather the supplies you will need for your tropical floral arrangement. This should include a variety of tropical plants and flowers, a vase, floral foam, horsetail, floral cutters and rubber bands. These are all basic items you would already have if you like to put together floral arrangements.

  2. Step 2

Place the floral foam into the vase you are using. The horsetail will be used to create an exotic looking border around the inside of the vase and hold the foam in place. Tropical flowers tend to be heavy.

  3. Step 3

Separate and bundle the horsetail into a couple of different bundles and secure the bottoms with rubber bands. This will make it easier to cut them.

  4. Step 4

Trim the ends of the horsetail bundles, so they are level. Hold the bundle to the vase and trim them about an inch or two above the lip of the vase.

  5. Step 5

Place the horsetail around the foam on the inside of the vase. Make sure they are all standing up straight and securely.

  6. Step 6

Cut any unleveled tops, so they are all the same height. This is where your floral cutters need to be sharp, so you are not twisting the horsetail and causing the ends to look frayed or uneven.

  7. Step 7

Continue on with your tropical floral arrangement. Remember to secure each tropical flower in the best way possible. This can be done by cutting the flower stem to the right height for the vase and horsetail, and using flowers with strong stems.
