If you can look out your window and see spots or fingerprints it's time to clean your windows. Cleaning the outside of the window is harder than the inside of windows, so it's best to start with the inside of the window. Follow these steps to learn how to wash the inside of windows.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Bucket
  • Dish soap
  • Sponge
  • Squeegee
  • Towel
  1. Step 1

Gather the supplies you are going to use. A good quality squeegee and sponge or window wand will clean your windows better than rags or paper towels.

  2. Step 2

Pour a few drops of dish soap into the bottom of a bucket. Fill the bucket with warm water; if desired you can put one cup of vinegar in the soapy water to prevent streaking.

  3. Step 3

Lay a towel under the window you are going to wash to catch any water drips. You don't want to chance getting your carpet wet.

  4. Step 4

Dip your sponge or wand into the soapy water. Squeeze out the excess water. It doesn't take a lot of water to wash a window.

  5. Step 5

Scrub your window thoroughly. Use top to bottom strokes to prevent passing over an area you have already washed.

  6. Step 6

Dry your window using a squeegee. Start by making a horizontal pass across the top of the window. Use downward strokes to clean the rest of the window; start at the dry strip then work your way down.

  7. Step 7

Use a terrycloth towel to clean the squeegee after each downward stroke. You can also use the towel to dry up any excess water along the bottom of the window.

Tips & Warnings
  • Wash your windows on cloudy days or before it gets sunny outside. If you wash your windows on a sunny day they will dry too fast and cause streaking.
