A project calculator is a great little tool to have around the house. These instruments calculate in feet and inches, allowing you to hang multiple pictures on one wall and have them evenly spaced. The project calculator is great for lots of small measuring jobs, helping you hang pictures and install shelving like a pro.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Pick up a project calculator at a local hardware store or in the hardware department of a large retailer. They come in a variety of capabilities, much like regular calculator. Find the one that is right for you and your home projects. Read the manual to become familiar with the functions of the calculator.

  2. Step 2

Decide on the wall where you want to hang the pictures. Measure the wall to get the exact measurement; for the sake of this example, enter 12 feet and 6 inches into the calculator.

  3. Step 3

Consider the number of pictures you'll be hanging on this particular wall. For example, if you want to hang four pictures on the wall you measured, then you would input the measurement and divide by five, because that is the number of spaces you will need between the pictures and on each side of the end pictures.

  4. Step 4

Hit the equal sign ("=") to calculate the space you need between the pictures,; in this example, it's 2 feet and 6 inches apart to be spaced evenly across the wall. This little tool will save you time and frustration. Use the project calculator for all your picture hanging projects and it will look like you hired a professional.
