Step 1
Inspect all of the components to the garbage disposal and drains to look for any damage. Repair what you can, replace what you can't and start the reassembly process. Take one last look through all of the pipes to make sure there is no debris or blockages.
-
Step 2
Reattach the hose from the dishwater to the garbage disposal. It does not need a hose clamp because of the ridges that are built in. They grip tightly and keep the hose in place and seal it to prevent leaking. If there is leaking, check for cracking or other damage along the ridges.
-
Step 3
Check the drain all the way along the piping. The drain is the piping that runs from the disposal all the way around under your sink, then out through the wall. Make sure the rings that hold the piping together are all tight. The plastic ones may be loose since plastic shrinks over time. Hand tighten these only, as they can crack and break.
-
Step 4
Tighten the metal rings with a wrench to make sure they are snug. Double check that none of the pipes are leaking. If they are, you may need to replace the gaskets or check the pipe itself for damage or excessive corrosion.
