Step 1
Fill your sink with lukewarm, soap-free water. Hot water causes plastic molds to warp and discolor over time.

Clean the molds using your fingers. Be sure to get into each of the detailed areas, such as the teeth and eyes.

Step 3
Shake the sugar skull molds to remove any excess water from the detailed areas.

Step 4
Dry the molds completely with a lint-free dishcloth or paper towel before molding any additional sugar skulls. Any water that remains in the mold affects your sugar skull mixture.

Step 5
Store sugar skull molds flat and in a cool location.
