Even with all of the new and flashy Christmas decorations, many people still choose to decorate their Christmas trees traditionally. Little kids and even adults love to string popcorn, berries and pasta to create a handmade Christmas garland. Just because pasta is a bland neutral color, this shouldn't stop you from adding color to it. Use aerosol spray paint for an easy way to color your garland.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Cover your work area with an old sheet or several paper bags.

  2. Step 2

Lay your pasta garland on top of your covered surface.

  3. Step 3

Shake the can of spray paint. Hold the can at least 4 inches from the garland and spray in even strokes along the pasta.

  4. Step 4

Spray your second color onto the pasta from a different direction to keep colors separate.

  5. Step 5

Let the garland dry for up to 3 hours.

  6. Step 6

Drape the dried garland over your Christmas tree.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use different pasta in your garland for a more dramatic effect.
  • You can also spray your pasta pieces before you string the garland. Some people find this way easier to coat the entire surface.
  • Write the year on a pasta piece so that when you take it out to decorate your Christmas tree in years to come you can look back and remember when you created your craft.
  • It's best to spray your garland outside or near an open window because of the toxic fumes.
  • Keep your spray painted garland away from fires and other heat sources.
