How to Stuff Panel Christmas Ornaments

You can stuff panel Christmas ornaments with a variety of fillers. The type that you use depends on the feeling you want to create.

By using different scents or textures, you can personalize the ornament for your family and friends.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Stuff your homemade panel Christmas ornaments with polyester filling for a traditional look. This creates a soft and light ornament that will last for years.

  2. Step 2

Use rice to fill smaller ornaments. Rice is a great Christmas ornament filler, especially if you don't want to run to the craft store for polyester filling.

  3. Step 3

Create a scented homemade Christmas ornament by filling the fabric with potpourri. Choose Christmas-oriented scents such as pine trees or spiced apples.

  4. Step 4

Save your dryer lint throughout the year and use it for stuffing. You can save a lot of money this way.

  5. Step 5

Shred old newspapers and use that for stuffing. Ornaments stuffed with newspaper make a nice noise when you touch them. It's also a great way to reuse something that may have gone in the garbage.

Tips & Warnings
  • Add a few drops of essential oil to the rice to create a scented ornament. Tell the recipient that she can release the scent by putting it in the microwave for 30 seconds.
  • The scent of potpourri may diminish over time. If you want to keep the ornament smelling fresh year after year, make it so that your recipient can replace the potpourri easily.
  • Don't fill a large ornament with rice. This makes the ornament too heavy to hang on the tree.
  • Potpourri may break over time, causing the ornament to look flat. To prevent this, break the potpourri yourself so you can add as much as possible.
