How to Size Felt Christmas Frames

Personalized felt picture frames make great Christmas gifts. Hanging on the tree, they showcase pictures of your loved ones. Fortunately, sizing a personalized picture frame isn't difficult. In fact, it's something that you can do in just a few minutes.

Things You'll Need:

• Felt
• Ruler or measuring tape
• Photograph
• Scissors
• Marker

1. Choose a picture that you want to use for the personalized picture frame. Cut the picture so it's the size that you want. Remember to leave a bit of space around the outside that the frame will cover.

2. Take your ruler or measuring tape and measure the picture that you have. Add 1 inch to each measurement to give your frame a 1/2 inch boarder.

3. Fold the felt in half to cut two pieces the exact same size. Use your ruler or measuring tape to mark the areas to cut based on the measurements you took. Cut along the markings.

4. Measure 1/2 inch from the edge on one piece of the felt. Cut the center out to make the frame.

Tips & Warnings

• Use a fusible interfacing to make the felt stiffer and more like a picture frame. You can purchase this at your local craft or fabric store. It is a material that you iron on to make other fabrics stiff.
• To improve accuracy, cut the felt on a quilter's mat using a rolling cutter. This gives you sharper angles and more accurate measurements.
• If you cut your picture too small, the back of the frame may show through. It's always better to cut things a little big and have the chance to trim it down later.
