How to Shoot Fountain Fireworks

There are many beautiful fountain fireworks to choose for in your Fourth of July celebrations. Fountain fireworks shoot up a tall fountains of sparks and sometimes include a series of sparks or "flowers" or "stars" and whistles. The following will show you how to safely shoot off fountain fireworks. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

      Read all the safety labels and the performance labels on your fountain fireworks before lighting them. Make sure to follow all instructions on the labels.

      Place the fountain firework on a flat surface a safe distance from people and items that could catch on fire, melt or sustain damage by heat or flame. Also, keep the fountain on a dry surface away from moisture, which will damage the fountain firework.

      Peel away the fuse on the fountain firework so that the fuse is up, accessible and easy to light.

      Light an incense stick or lighter stick with a regular household lighter or match until the tip of the incense stick turns red. The lighter stick will give you about 20 minutes of use.

      Touch the lighter stick to the fuse until the fuse ignites. Light the fuse at an arms length to prevent injury.

      Step back at a safe distance and enjoy the show.

Tips & Warnings

  • Keep your fountain fireworks away from power lines, pets and flammable materials such as gasoline or alcohol.

  • Some fireworks have fuses that glow in the dark so they can be found easily at night. Look for this feature when purchasing your fountain fireworks.

  • Every state has their own laws in regards to fireworks and when and where you can light them. Follow all the rules of your state to avoid getting into legal trouble.
