Building a snowman is a fun activity to do with your children. While building your snowman be sure to have fun. You may want to split your family into teams to see who can build the fastest or to see who can design the best snowman.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Sticks
  • Fresh snow

Step1
Build the base of your snowman. This needs to be big and sturdy. Make sure that it is firmly planted on the ground by packing snow around the base.
Step2
Roll the middle ball as close to the base as possible. Be sure to roll the ball evenly.
Step3
Smooth the edges of the snowman that are going to touch. This helps the balls to fit and stay together better.
Step4
Push a stick into the base of the snowman with at least six inches above the top of the base.
Step5
Add fresh snow to the top of the snowman to act as glue to hold the two balls together.
Step6
Lift the middle snowball onto the base of the snowman, sliding it onto the stick. Pat snow around the base of the middle snowball to secure the two together.

Tips & Warnings

  • When lifting bend from the legs. This will help to avoid back strain. Consider having two people lift the ball. This may help you to avoid hurting yourself. It can prevent you from dropping the snowball as well.
  • Be sure to wear a hat, gloves and boots to avoid getting frostbite. If it is really cold outside go in to warm up as often as needed.
