Building a snowman is a great way to pass the time on a day when everyone's home for a snow day. It is fun to spend time out in the snow and then sip hot cocoa and admire your handiwork through the window.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy
Step1
Make a snowball by packing snow firmly together.
Step2
Roll the snowball until you have the correct size for the middle ball. Try to roll the ball evenly so that it comes out round.
Step3
Plan your path so that the middle snowball ends up next to your base. This will save you the trouble of carrying your snowball to your base.
Step4
Flatten the top of the base of the snowman and the bottom of the middle ball to help the balls fit together. Alternatively, dig a slight hollow in the top of the base that the middle ball will settle into.
Step5
Lift the middle ball onto the base of the snowman. Pack the snow around it so that it won't all off.
Step6
Smooth the middle ball so that it appears round. Fill in any holes that may have appeared. Focus on the front of the snowman since most people will focus on that.

Tips & Warnings

  • If your snowman appears to be dirty, pick up snow from the top layer and pack it around your snowball. This will put clean snow on top of the dirty snow for a prettier snowman.
  • If the middle snowball is large use two people to lift it onto the base.
  • Dress warmly to avoid frostbite. Wearing gloves and warm socks will help to protect your fingers and toes.
