How to Lift Balls to Build a Snowman

Snowmen are a part of winter. It is fun to build a family of snowmen in your front yard to greet the neighbors. You may want to stray from the traditional scarf and hat and go with a warmer theme. Get out the beach shirts and sunglasses to inspire your neighbors to join in the fun.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Stick
  1. Step 1

    Roll your middle ball close to the base of the snowman. Make sure that your middle ball is small enough that you can lift it. You may want to use a partner.

  2. Step 2

    Prepare the base of the snowman for the middle ball by adding a layer of fresh snow to the top. Smooth the bottom of the middle ball, this helps the balls fit together tightly.

  3. Step 3

    Push a stick into the center of the top of the base. You should leave about six inches out to help secure the middle ball of the snowman.

  4. Step 4

    Bend at your knees and lift the middle snow ball up and onto the stick coming out of the base of the snowman.

  5. Step 5

    Lower the snowball onto the base. Pack snow around the base to secure the snowball into place.

Tips & Warnings
  • Bend at the knees when picking up the snowball. The middle snowball can be quite big and snow is heavy, you can cause a serious injury by picking up the snowball in the wrong way.
  • Dress warmly and wear gloves to avoid frostbite. Depending on the temperature, you may need to take breaks between the different steps while building your snowman.
