Choose traditional color options. Most Oriental style art is framed in simple black or gold frames, though there are some newer contemporary framing options for Asian art as well.

Choose natural textures and materials if you want a more interesting frame that just plain black or gold. Bamboo, woven grass, teak wood or any other type of natural looking material is a nice accent for some Asian art, especially landscape.

Choose a picture frame that has uniform or patterned texture, or a plain, flat surface. Don't pick a frame with erratic or clustered embellishments that distract the eye from the picture itself.

Choose a frame that matches both the picture itself and your home decor. If you're choosing between several frames, pick the one that looks best with the picture and goes best in the location you want to hang the picture--you may have to compromise to find the best overall fit.
