The poker game 727 has several twists to standard poker games and combines aspects of blackjack. The goal of 727 is to assemble a hand as close to seven or 27 as possible without going over. The pot is then divided into two winners: the player closest to seven without going over and the player closest to 27 without going over.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Know how 727 poker is scored. All numbered cards are worth their face value. For example, a seven card is worth seven points. Face cards are each worth one half point and aces can be worth either one point or 11 points.

  2. Step 2

Deal each poker player one face down card. Also deal each player one card face up.

  3. Step 3

Begin a betting round. After each player has been dealt two cards, betting begins with the player to the left of the dealer. This is the only betting round in 727 poker.

  4. Step 4

Ask players if they would like an additional card. Players may choose to receive an additional card or they may decline. Additional cards are dealt face up.

  5. Step 5

Place a chip on top of your cards each time you decline an additional card. Once a player has three chips on top of her cards, she may no longer request additional cards.

  6. Step 6

Continue to distribute additional cards one at a time to player until all player have three chips of their cards.

  7. Step 7

Show the poker hands and determine the winners. The 727 pot is split between the player with the hand closest to seven without going over and the player closest to 27 without going over.

Tips & Warnings
  • One player can take the whole pot if their hand is the closest to seven and closest to 27. This is possible because players may choose to count aces as both one point and 11 points.
