Metacafe is a large video sharing website where you can submit short entertaining videos for viewing by the general population. You retain ownership of videos, but you get feedback through Metacafe's rating system and even have the ability to make money on popular videos you submit.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Register on the Metacafe site. Before you can submit videos, you need to become a member by completing the online registration form and choosing a password.

  2. Step 2

Review the guidelines for video submission by clicking on the "Usage Rules" link at the bottom of the homepage. You cannot submit content that is copyrighted or sexually explicit.

  3. Step 3

Click on the "Submit" button on the top of the homepage. Sign in with your email and password.

  4. Step 4

Browse for the video file on your computer. The video needs to be in one of the supported formats. Read through the terms and conditions on the Metacafe page to find out the permitted formats and content.

  5. Step 5

Fill out all of the appropriate fields on the video submission page. Give the video an interesting title and teaser description. Pick an image from the video as a thumbnail to peak interest. Choose a channel that fits the category of video.

  6. Step 6

Select the appropriate filter of either "13+" or "18+" if your video contains violence. Content with stage violence, such as martial arts, is suitable for the 13+ filter.

  7. Step 7

Wait for approval. After you submit the video and details about the video, you have to wait through a review process. Once the video is approved by the site, it's viewable on Metacafe.

Tips & Warnings
  • Popular videos that have 20,000 views in a six month period and a rating of 3.00 or higher have the opportunity to enter the Producer Rewards program and earn $5 on each 1,000 views.
  • Videos cannot be longer than eight minutes. Metacafe specializes in short-length videos so most average 90 seconds in length.
  • Don't use last names in videos.
