Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Take risks when the times call for it. After leaving Dale Earnhardt Incorporated without his long time sponsor, he was willing to risk finding a new sponsor.
Step2
Win a few big races throughout your career. Earnhardt's wins in the Daytona 500 and the All-Star Challenge have encouraged sponsors to stick with him, even when he does go through a winless streak.
Step3
Build a large fan base. Since emerging in the sport, he has earned and maintained the loyalty of people who buy anything his sponsors have to offer.
Step4
Endorse products that will bring a focus to you and to your sponsors. After releasing a candy bar with his picture on it, Earnhardt has garnered even more fans, some of whom had never watched NASCAR before.
Step5
Maintain a consistent public image to give potential sponsors an idea of the type of person you are. While other racers are known as responsible husbands and fathers, Earnhardt is proud of his image as the good old party boy.
Step6
Choose sponsors that reflect your personality. He is known for picking sponsors because they make something he likes or wears when he's off the track, such as Adidas or Sony.
Step7
Do whatever your sponsors ask. When AMP Energy wanted Dale to star alongside a camel, the driver willingly agreed. Showing your sponsors that you're willing to do anything for them encourages them to keep up their support.
