Vintage jeans are a great way to spruce up your wardrobe. The only hard part is finding a pair that fits your body and your budget. Luckily there are dozens of places where you can find jeans. If you want to buy vintage jeans, grab your wallet and start looking.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Bid on vintage jeans at an online auction site like eBay. These sites allow bidders to set their own prices--great for those on a budget--and offer hundreds of different styles and sizes.

  2. Step 2

Look for vintage jeans on the Bargain Shopper website (see Resources). The website offers thousands of vintage pieces for sale every day, including jeans in numerous sizes and styles.

  3. Step 3

Shop Vintage Blues (see Resources) for a large collection of denim pieces from different eras. Their pieces are sometimes less expensive than those on auction sites and they list a large number of details about the pants.

  4. Step 4

Check your local thrift stores for vintage jeans, but make sure to visit all the clothing sections. Sometimes clothing can be mislabeled, so a great pair of jeans might be in the wrong area of the store.

  5. Step 5

Visit flea markets and garage sales to find uncovered gems. Consignment stores and thrift shops typically know what they have and set their prices accordingly, while other vendors may set their prices lower.

  6. Step 6

Examine the vintage jeans for stains, tears and any other signs of damage before buying. You may be able to have the jeans fixed, but you need to decide if it's worthwhile or if you should keep looking.

  7. Step 7

Try on the jeans before you buy them. Since sizes change quite a bit, you'll need to make sure that the jeans fit your body type, just as you would with a new pair.

Tips & Warnings
  • Take your measurements before buying a pair of vintage jeans because sizes have changed drastically. A size 14 from several decades ago is now closer to a size 10.
