How to Sew Lingerie Clasps
Lingerie clasps are easy to sew onto any shirt or dress. They keep your lingerie straps from peeking out the sides of your sleeveless tops, or drooping down onto your shoulder.

1
Choose the material you want to use for the lingerie clasp. Lining fabric, 1/2 inch wide ribbon and seam tape are all possible options. Cut your material 1 3/4 inches long for each clasp. For lining fabric, cut it 3/4-inch wide.
-
2
Fold your lining fabric in half, right sides together, and sew a seam with a 1/4-inch allowance. Turn right side out and iron flat. Turn in both ends and sew shut. If you are using a 1/2-inch wide ribbon or seam tape, fold in half lengthwise and top stitch. Repeat for the second clasp.

3
Sew the male half of a small snap to one end of each clasp.
-
4
Put on your lingerie and your garment. Mark with pins the two edges of your lingerie straps, on each shoulder.
-
5
Remove your garment. Position the clasp so that it completely crosses the area between the two pins, with the snap end of the clasp pointing towards to the neck. Sew the free end of the clasp to the shoulder seam of your garment, towards the sleeve side of the shoulder. Repeat on the other shoulder.

6
Sew the female half of the snap onto the shoulder seam, lined up with the snap end of the clasp as it lays flat against the shoulder seam. Repeat on the other shoulder.
-
7
Wear your garment. Thread the clasp under your lingerie strap and fasten the snap.
