How to Sync Music to an Ipod Nano

The iPod nano allows you to take your music with you wherever you go and will sync songs, audiobooks and podcasts from your computer. This process is possible through the iTunes software application. When you plug your iPod into the computer, the iTunes application opens and you can begin to create your music collection and sync tunes from the iTunes store, CDs or other music already on your computer.

Instructions

    Sync from iTunes

  1. Step 1

    Plug your nano into the removable drive port on your computer.

  2. Step 2

    Create an account with iTunes. Click on "Store" and "Create Account" and follow the directions.

  3. Step 3

    Browse the store by artist, song title or album.

  4. Step 4

    Double click to hear a song. To purchase your selection, click "Buy song" or "Buy album." Your song downloads to your computer and charges your credit card listed in your account information.

  5. Step 5

    Click "Sync all songs and playlists" or "Sync selected playlists" to update your iPod nano.

  6. Sync from Computer

  7. Step 1

    Plug your iPod nano into the removable drive port on your computer. This opens iTunes.

  8. Step 2

    Go to the folder or files on your computer that contain your music and drag the items into your iTunes library. Choose "File" from the drop down menu and select "Add to library."

  9. Step 3

    Click "Manually manage iPod nano" from the summary tab to individually drag songs onto your iPod.

  10. Sync from CD

  11. Step 1

    Insert your CD into the CD drive on your computer.

  12. Step 2

    Plug your iPod nano into the removable drive port on your computer. This automatically open iTunes.

  13. Step 3

    Remove the check marks from songs that you don't want on your iPod nano.

  14. Step 4

    Click on "Import CD."

  15. Step 5

    Click "Manually manage iPod nano" from the summary tab to drag songs onto your iPod.

Tips & Warnings
  • Go to the iTunes "Help" menu for further assistance if the music doesn't appear in your library.
