One of the best things about a home-based Internet business is that it's easy to market it inexpensively, or even for free. The interwoven nature of the Internet means that many, many websites can link to the marketing efforts and spread the word about the business much further than the business owner could do alone.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Get a dedicated website. Many businesses are run through third-party sites. But, the marketing power of a dedicated site will provide a place to put your own sales and marketing information.

  2. Step 2

Start creating information for other websites. Article marketing is the use of articles placed in different spots around the Internet that all link back to your website. These links are often called backlinks, and they will make it easier for potential customers to find your website. They will also make the website rank higher in search engine results.

  3. Step 3

Use pay-per-click ads. Most websites have PPC ads somewhere on them, and you can take advantage of that by creating your own. To get started, go through Google or a similar site and sign up as an advertiser. Then, decide how much you want to pay for each click. Your ad will be seen and clicked, but you pay only for clicks. The clicks lead back to your website or a site where you are an affiliate.

  4. Step 4

Write a business blog. Make announcements about your business and keep your customers informed by updating your marketing blog often. Blogs are so well ranked in search engines that your blog may be found before your website. Your blog, of course, will link to your business site.
