How to Assemble Shish Kabobs

Shish Kabobs are a popular, healthy and great summer grilled meal that the entire family will enjoy. Assembly is easy and you can use a variety of meats, chicken, seafood, bacon, fruits and vegetables. Serve them to the family or invite your friends over for a cook out.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Wax paper
  • Shish kabob skewers
  • Non stick spray
  • Chicken
  • Red and green peppers
  • Red or green onions
  • Cherry tomatoes
  • Mushrooms
  • Pineapple chunks
  • Seal able plastic container
  • Seasoned oil and vinegar mixture
  1. Step 1

    Cut two sheets of wax paper about 18 inches long. Lay the wax paper side by side on your table or a counter top.

  2. Step 2

    Center the shish kabob skewers, lengthwise on the wax paper. Spray both sides of each skewer with a generous amount of non stick spray.

  3. Step 3

    Assemble your shish kabobs by threading your chicken first and then alternating with a variety of vegetables and fruit.

  4. Step 4

    Place the assembled shish kabobs side by side, layering if necessary in a plastic container. Pour seasoned oil and vinegar mixture over the top of the kabobs and tightly seal the plastic container.

  5. Step 5

    Refrigerate shish kabobs for approximately 6 hours before cooking on the grill.

Tips & Warnings
  • If using Bamboo skewers will need to soak them in water for about in 15 minutes. This helps to prevent burning.
  • Pasta, Fruit or Potato Salads go great with chicken and vegetable kabobs.
  • Place a garlic clove at each end of shish kabob to prevent food from falling off.
  • Don't overcook, shish kabobs cook quickly.
