The idea that male cheerleaders aren't athletes is a major misconception. Male cheerleaders need the same degree of strength, stamina and agility as traditional sports athletes. Combined with this, all it takes is skill, spirit and smiles to become a male cheerleader.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step1
Maintain a good physical condition like an athlete. Many people think male cheerleaders are the guys that aren't all that athletic. Nothing could be further from the truth. You need to be in great physical condition for all those pyramids and lifting you'll need to do.
Step2
Know some gymnastics. Splits, high kicks, jumping and tumbling is important to cheerleading. Learn some of these moves by taking some gymnastics classes to get the hang of it.
Step3
Demonstrate that you aren't just there to meet hot cheerleaders. Do this by not hitting on the girls, taking your duties seriously and being mature about being in such close physical proximity to scantily clad girls. Try not to gawk when you throw the girls up in the air in their very short skirts.
Step4
Know the ins and outs of try outs. Get tips from girls who've tried out before. Be sure to dress appropriately and show you'll take your position on the squad seriously.
Step5
Show tremendous school spirit. Demonstrate you know your school's colors, quarterback, mascot and sports statistics. Use the "Number 1" sign with your finger often, and clap as much as possible. Demonstrate your ability to get fans excited about a sports team.
Step6
Keep smiling. Cheerleaders smile a lot. If you plan on being a cheerleader, male or female, it's extremely important to show those pearly whites often.
