How to Get Rainbow Hair

Rainbow hair colors don't take much skill to apply, as long as you have the time to commit. You'll need to bleach your hair until it's platinum blond to remove all color. If you've dyed your hair before, particularly black, you should have this step done by a professional.

Instructions

1. Wash your hair and don't condition it. Wait until the next day to dye your hair platinum blond. You want to make your hair as white as possible so the colors you use will stay true, rather than mixing with the color underneath.

2. Choose a rainbow hair color product, such as Crazy Colour or Special Effects. You can find these and similar products at most large hair salon or beauty supply warehouses.

3. Decide how you want your rainbow colors to appear in your hair. Section your hair off so you can dye it one color at a time.

4. Mix the color you want to use until it's the right hue, then paint it on a section of dry hair. Leave the color in according to the manufacturer's directions and rinse it thoroughly before you apply color to another section. Otherwise, you may experience bleeding from one color to another.

5. Pull back the portion you colored and choose your next color. Continue this process until you have a rainbow head of hair, or until you're done dying the hair you'd like to be a rainbow.

Tips & Warnings

• You may need to dye your hair platinum blond more than once to remove all of the color.

• Freshly colored hair will be extremely bright for a week or so, but will gradually begin to fade.
