How to Sue for Religious Discrimination
Religious discrimination is a criminal activity, punishable by law. If you find that you are a victim of religious discrimination like this, you may have the right to sue for it. Laws vary, just as the number of types of religious discrimination change. Consider how you have been effected and if it violates any laws.

1
Know the laws on discrimination of religion. The First Amendment of the Bill of Rights gives all American citizens the right to practice the faith they wish to, and still gives every American the benefits of society, regardless of any religious beliefs they may have. If you have been in any religious discrimination situation, you have the right to sue.

2
Seek information about employer laws regarding religious discrimination. Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 is one law that is highly important as it stops employers from discriminating against individuals because of their religious beliefs. This includes hiring, firing or other treatments and is punishable when proven.

3
Learn about the separation of church and state. These laws keep any religious elements out of governmental buildings or properties, or claims they must be shared by all religions. This may include government offices, buildings belonging to the government, and public schools.
-
4
Read the U.S. Department of Justice Civil Rights Division pamphlet, "Protecting the Religious Freedom of All: Federal Laws Against Religious Discrimination," located at the USDOJ's website. It contains specific laws, details of those laws and examples of the separation of church and state.
-
5
Find an attorney who specializes in religious-discrimination lawsuits. To sue, the lawsuit must have evidence proving the claim, which your attorney can help you to find. Religious discrimination laws are upheld at all levels of government.
