How to Write a Fanfiction Summary
Fanfiction is one of the best things about fan sites. Fans are called on to unleash their own creativity and add something to the stories they love. This gives back to the fan community, as well as being an exercise in creativity. Many fanfiction writers write a summary to help guide their fellow fans in choosing a story to read.

1
Look for a fanfiction site that allows readers to send in their own fanfiction. Many fan sites have fanfiction areas that will allow it to be emailed in or uploaded directly to the site. You may have to become a member of a site, but there should be no charge to publish your fanfiction. Fan sites benefit from increased readership when they publish fanfiction.
-
2
Skim through your fanfiction story and decide what the overall theme is. What characters does it involve? What is the tone of the story? Once you determine these things, start making a general outline of what your summary will contain.

3
Add to the outline a couple of plot points that come up in the course of the story. If you want them to be surprises, either leave that part out or allude to their being secrets in store for the reader.
-
4
Write the summary, containing the major points that you want to make. Use correct English and proofread it for typos. A fanfiction summary that is written with typos and incorrect language will be judged as a reflection of the story it summarizes. To get more people to read the fanfiction story, make sure it's correct.
-
5
Figure out how long your summary is allowed to be. Some sites will allow nothing more than a couple of sentences, while some will allow a much longer summary. If yours is too long, edit the sentences to make the summary shorter.

Tips & Warnings
Don't give away any major plot points. If you give the main twists away, there will be no reason to read the story.
